The problem was never a shortage of ideas.
Organizations had strategic plans, leadership programs, performance systems, talent practices, policies, and operating processes.
What they often lacked was a shared way to understand how those efforts connected.
Leadership meant different things to different people. Strategy remained apart from daily work. Talent practices developed separately from organizational priorities. Policies accumulated as leaders tried to anticipate every possible situation. People became increasingly busy while remaining uncertain about the value they were responsible for adding.
Vide was built to help organizations make sense of the whole.
From Practice to a Better Answer
Vide grew from years of working inside the questions that shape organizational performance.
Why do talented people and capable teams underperform? Why do substantial investments in strategy, leadership, talent, and operations fail to produce meaningful improvement? Why do organizations continue adding programs, processes, and policies while people remain uncertain about what matters most and what they are responsible for delivering?
Practice revealed that these were rarely isolated problems. Leadership, strategy, people, systems, operations, and performance were deeply connected, but the ideas and initiatives intended to improve them were often developed separately.
Research provided a way to examine those relationships more rigorously. Continued application provided a way to test and refine what worked.
Vide and its integrated body of work developed from the effort to bring those parts together.

Vide Consulting Group Today
Vide works with owners, CEOs, executive teams, boards, government leaders, nonprofit leaders, and senior decision-makers facing consequential organizational questions.
Our engagements may involve strategy, transformation, leadership, teams, talent systems, culture, operational performance, or execution. The work is always tailored to the organization and grounded in the same commitment:
When people rise, organizations win.
High-performing cultures make both possible.
Organizations perform through people. People perform best when they understand the direction, see how they contribute, are supported by aligned systems, and are accountable for meaningful results.
Core Values
Pursue Excellence
Excellence is a discipline, not a destination. It requires consistent effort, ongoing learning, and accountability over time. We hold ourselves to high standards and commit to continuous improvement in our work and conduct.
People Are People
People deserve dignity, respect, and humanity, regardless of role, title, or status. We value genuine relationships, and how we show up with people matters.
Intellectual Rigor
We think critically, challenge assumptions, and ground our work in valid research methods, data, and disciplined reasoning. Insight matters only when it is sound, defensible, and applied.
Complexity Simplified
We cut through complexity to identify patterns, make priorities explicit, and uncover opportunities so that leaders can make better decisions and solve the right problems. We respect complexity, but we do not hide behind it. If an idea cannot be clearly explained and practically applied, it is not yet understood.
Meet Our Team

Travis A. Berger, Ph.D.
Founder & Managing Partner
Travis Berger has spent his career pursuing one question:
What allows people, teams, and organizations to perform at their best, especially when the stakes are high and the answers are not obvious?
The question first took shape through competitive athletics, where talent alone never guaranteed success. Teams performed when people understood the objective, accepted their roles, trusted one another, prepared with discipline, and held themselves to a shared standard. As a captain, Travis also learned that a title did not cause people to follow. Influence had to be earned through judgment, credibility, conduct, relationships, and performance.
Marine Corps Officer Candidates School reinforced those lessons under more demanding conditions. Leadership could not be separated from followership. Authority did not guarantee influence. Individual effort had to serve a larger mission. And dependability mattered most when conditions became difficult and other people were counting on you.
Those experiences did not give Travis a finished view of leadership. They gave him questions he could not stop asking.
Why do talented teams underperform? Why do capable people fail to add the value their roles require? Why do people follow some individuals and resist others? Why do organizations invest heavily in leadership, strategy, talent, and performance, yet struggle to translate those investments into better results?
Those questions followed him into consulting, organizational leadership, teaching, and research.
In practice, Travis saw organizations invest in strategic plans, competency models, leadership academies, performance systems, coaching, succession planning, operating processes, and culture initiatives. Many of those efforts were thoughtful. Yet they often operated from different definitions, assumptions, and expectations.
The parts improved.
The organization did not.
Doctoral study gave him the opportunity to examine the problem more deeply. His research brought together leadership theory, organizational strategy, program evaluation, and organizational practice. What emerged was not another leadership model, but a way to organize a fragmented field and connect leadership more directly to how organizations perform.
That work became the foundation for HPLX™ (leadership’s common language) and Performance Blueprint™ (Vide’s organizational alignment system).
Travis founded Vide Consulting Group to bring that thinking into practice.
Today, he works with owners, CEOs, executive teams, boards, government leaders, and nonprofit leaders facing consequential questions about strategy, leadership, people, organizational alignment, accountability, and execution. He helps leaders make sense of complex conditions, identify what matters most, and develop practical solutions that fit their organization.
His work has supported organizations navigating growth, transformation, leadership transitions, culture change, geographic expansion, strategic realignment, post-acquisition integration, and the demands of execution. He has advised senior leaders, built leadership and talent systems, facilitated strategic decisions, developed high-impact programs, and helped organizations strengthen the conditions required for sustained performance.
Travis also serves as the Inaugural Applied Leadership Fellow and Associate Professor of Business and Leadership at Alvernia University. His academic leadership has included serving as a founding dean, department chair, and president of faculty council. As Founding Dean, he helped secure the largest alumni gift in the university’s history, established the Header School of Business, launched institution-shaping programs, expanded academic offerings, and strengthened connections among the university, industry, and community.
Across every role, the same principle guides his work:
Organizations perform when people understand the direction, see how they contribute, and are accountable for adding the right value at the right level.
That principle is reflected in Vide’s shared performance standard:
Direction. Alignment. Accountability.
Travis is known for making difficult ideas understandable, challenging familiar assumptions, and helping leaders see problems they have struggled to name. His speaking and advisory work combine research, experience, directness, and practical relevance.
He does not offer generic formulas or borrowed leadership advice. He helps audiences understand what is actually happening inside their organization, why familiar approaches often fail, and what it will take to move performance.
Because the goal is not another plan, program, or initiative.
It is high-performing people, teams, and organizations that deliver the right results the right way.
